| Pastor Laurie Hanks has served as Children’s Pastor for Crossroads Church since 2002. She leads a dedicated team of volunteer workers who provide a safe, nurturing, fun, and Christ centered environment for children from the nursery through 6th grade. These activities include KidzQuest during weekend services, and Mpact and Royal Ranger programs on Wednesday nights. Laurie’s joy is to teach. For eight years she taught elementary school and also has experience teaching and ministering to children in the nursery and preschool, as well as leading women’s Bible studies. Laurie marvels at God’s greatness and His intimacy with His children and believes that God uses children in ministry as they have a purpose and a place in God’s work at any age. She is passionate about challenging children to love God with all of their heart and considers teaching children about the love of God the greatest privilege the Lord has granted her.
Laurie was born and raised in Southern California, accepted Jesus as her personal Savior at the age of thirteen, and married her husband, Brion, in 1980. Nine years later she moved to the Temecula Valley and considers it a privilege to be one of the founding members of Crossroads Church. Laurie has served the church and community in various capacities over the years and is extremely blessed with a wonderful family. Her adult children, Nicolas, Benjamin, Megan, and Kaitlin make her proud every day. A soon-expected granddaughter will certainly bring a new dimension to her life as she will be a grandma for the first time.
In her time to relax, she loves to read, write, take walks, visit the beach, enjoy delicious food and Starbucks iced tea. TV is not her thing, but she loves American Idol and LOST and wishes they didn't take such long breaks between episodes. Finding Nemo, Toy Story, The Incredibles, Bambi, and Emporer's New Groove are some of her favorite movies.
The most precious gift the Lord gives to Laurie is the opportunity to lead a child to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Inspiring people to live for God, brings her great joy. She lives to serve and live for Him. |
